Discovery Exercise – Video

Using video in learning stems from the idea that all humans have learning styles that are exhibited clearly through the strengths of their one or more multiple intelligences. Howard Gardner’s studies have argued that humans may display strengths in one or more of several intelligences (e.g., visual-spatial, kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal).

Option 1: Create a Video

  1. If you have not already selected a Video creation tool or resource you would like to explore, go to #EmTechWIKI Discover page, select the appropriate module, and then a Video tool or resource by choosing Video in the Category field.
  2. Using that tool, create a video. Alternatively, upload some audio/visual content that you already have onto a video hosting service.
  3. Embed your video in your ePortfolio.
  4. How does the use of this tool increase collaboration between individuals?
  5. If you are enrolled in the MOOC, remember to return to “Activities and Discussion Prompt” to complete that Module. Here is a link back to #EmTechMOOC in Coursera.

Option 2: Explore a Video Sharing Website

  1. If you have not already selected a Video Sharing Website that you would like to explore, go to #EmTechWIKI Discover page, select the appropriate module, and then a video sharing resource by choosing Video in the Category field.
  2. Link the video sharing site you have found as an artifact in your ePortfolio.
  3. Why did you choose the video service that you did? Can you see any features or components of the tool that would be useful if they were applied to learning and collaboration?
  4. If you are enrolled in the MOOC, remember to return to “Activities and Discussion Prompt” to complete that Module. Here is a link back to #EmTechMOOC in Coursera.
